Santero - Why They Trippin? EP [Weird Science]
The next Weird Science release comes courtesy of label co-founder and Ministry of Sound official resident Santero and already has support from Zombie Nation, Laurent Garnier and garnered plays on Annie Mac's Minimix courtesy of Zombie Disco Squad as well as Crookers mix on BBC 1Xtra's Daily Dose.
First up we have 'Why They Trippin?', an 808-powered slice of modern electro that builds ever upwards with its sinister vocals and chunky beats, spliced with old-skool drum fills and silvery synths and mixed down at Red Bull's London studio.
On remix duties we have Trouble & Bass's Ursa Major providing a stripped back bass-heavy version while The Elementz take it into butt-shaking territory, tropical influenced beats colliding with the ominous sounds of the original to create something special.
On the flipside of this imaginary 12" is Warped, written for the most part while flying over the Atlantic Ocean, named for its influence from the early Warp compilations that helped shape Santero's tastes in music in his earlier years, and Sometimes, a blissed out deep house cut perfect for those late night sessions, and with a bassline that needs big speakers to do it justice!
